What is there to
do around here?

All the local shows and events in one place.

That’s North Shore Night Out.

Finding stuff to do isn’t easy if you don't know where shows happen or how they’re posted. This leads to empty shows and performers who can’t entertain as many people, and we find that unacceptable.

The most memorable events aren’t always the most polished, which is why NSNO doesn’t promote big ticket performances—just local ones. Think bar gig, YMCA play, high school basketball game, etc. We list as many small, local events as we can, and we list all of it for free.

If your establishment hosts public events that would benefit from tourist levels of traffic, let us know. NSNO lists all kinds of gigs, including:

  • Concerts

  • Plays

  • Sports

  • Art exhibits

  • Trivia

  • Karaoke

  • City events

Note: We don’t list just anything and everything. Some events don’t make sense to post here, and NSNO reserves the right to decide which ones end up on our site.

Our goal is to fight boredom by making it easy to find fun activities throughout the North Shore.

 FAQs

  • Events are listed (or not listed) based on a few different criteria. Is it meant for spectators and patrons? Is it something that would benefit from October tourist traffic? Is it for general or niche audiences? For example, a quiet night of meditation might not be as appropriate for tourist traffic as a high school jazz concert. Basically, if an event has standing room, it’s something that should be here.

  • The NSNO calendar caters to last-minuters who find themselves with unexpected free time. Weekend planners can subscribe to the NSNO Weekend Report for advance notice of what’s happening later on.

  • Yes! All event listings are free. Submit your event on the homepage. If it isn’t appropriate for the site, we might still do a post on IG or Facebook. Venues can also provide a description for their premises if they want to. The only costs are for venues that want extra exposure in the Featured Events section, the Weekend Report, or featured social media posts.

  • Given the internet’s penchant for spamming any and all well-meaning email accounts, all contacting must be done through forms on the website. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

  • Currently, sports are limited to baseball/softball, football, basketball, soccer, and hockey.

Choosing which sports to post is a sore subject for which we apologize profusely. The fact is that baseball and softball are the world’s best sports—posting others is based on likelihood of attendance, which unfortunately rules out more niche games beloved by many people.

The NSNO of the future may have an all-sports section in which more athletics can be included.
